Fort Collins CO Senior Photographer | Maddie's Joy-filled Senior Session - Class of 2020, RCHS

Updated: Feb 26, 2021

This summer senior session was one of my favorites and mostly because it is just so Maddie! If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting Maddie, it only takes about 0.3 seconds to realize that she is all sunshine. Maddie has an amazing smile and we knew that showcasing her joy would be important. We decided to use some iconic spots in Fort Collins for her session and the result was the perfect session for Maddie!

Using downtown Fort Collins, specifically in Old Town Fort Collins, is a pretty common backdrop for local seniors. Its important to me to use different sections and different posing options for each of my seniors in order to provide each one something a little different. My best advice to seniors trying to decide whether or not to use a common location is this: you have to decide which spots are important to you and just DO YOU! I understand wanting to do something unique and different but you also have to remember that if you add YOU to the equation, it can be a little different.

For Maddie, Old Town added the perfect mix of urban vibe and floral beauty to compliment that gorgeous smile and those stunning blue eyes. Her choice to wear yellow really helped the images just pop!

After that, we made our way up to Horsetooth Reservoir for a perfect Colorado backdrop. Maddie changed into the perfect blue top to compliment her eyes and we were off searching for the perfect pathway to walk and rocks to lounge on.

As a final stop and the perfect finale to Maddie's session, we made our way out to a local sunflower field. Maddie changed into the perfect white sundress and the images really speak for themselves! I think this was a perfect way to end her session!

For anyone who falls in love with the idea of using sunflowers in their session, please be aware that it's pretty tricky to find a blooming field and get permission to use it. Sunflowers bloom in mid to late August (typically) and can be easily destroyed by hail. Farmer's also have to battle people trespassing and stomping through their fields so many times its not worth the hassle to them. Be sure to get permission to use any sunflower field if you do find them. And if a sunflower field is something you want to add to your session, make sure to book that mid-late August spot. You may have to come up with a backup idea if the fields are not planted this year. And remember, while the sunflower field is such a fun idea, you can still have amazing images and a beautiful session without it.
