I typically photograph senior ladies but I love the opportunities that I have to capture senior guys as well. And Colton was no exception. He has a fun artistic nature to him and I could tell that was important to him and his mom that we capture that but Colton is edgy and finding a mural or something colorful and artistic that would match him proved to be tricky. Thankfully, Colton new of a off the beaten path spot that boasted some seriously cool graffiti and once I saw it I knew it was going to be the perfect spot to start our session!
Colton and his mom also wanted to be sure to include Colorado in his session and so the second half we went out to Horsetooth Reservoir as it really doesn't get much more Colorado than that. We were able to get the coolest light as the sun was setting and I love how epic these images turned out.
It was fun to add some extra personality to these images with Colton's drumsticks, headphones, and Kermit the frog hat.
I think including these personal touches really makes your senior session all about you. I am a firm believer that being true to who you are is both the hardest and most rewarding things you can do. If you are brave enough to give it a go, it can be a really freeing and wonderful thing. I myself try to be really authentic and I describe myself as what you see if what you get... I wasn't always that way but I like it better than the alternative. Colton too is like this - and I am just so thankful that I got to be a part of his senior year and to capture these images that are just SO HIM!
