Abby's Playful Senior Session | BHS Class of 2023

Hi there!

If you have been reading and following me for a while, this post might be a little repetitive but if you are new around here, you should know that one of the most important things to me when it comes to a senior session is that the images are so full of personality. That desire drives the process of senior sessions with me and really requires me to be hands-on and invested in the planning stages of the session (and obviously also very involved during the photoshoot!). So when we begun to design Abby's senior session, I quickly realized that it was going to be one that I was going to want to share with everyone. There were a couple key things that Abby and her mom did from the beginning to help the outcome be so amazing and I wanted to share those things with you as well as some gorgeous images from her session.

So here are the top 3 things Abby did (that you can do too!) to ensure your senior session is full of personality.

Number 3: Go for a variety of looks and locations.

We want your images to showcase all the different facets of who you are. You aren't a one dimensional person and so your session can't be just one dimensional either. The easiest way to add dimension is to vary your outfits and your location. I always suggest a more casual look and a fancier look and then for many seniors, doing a third look that showcases a passion rounds out the wardrobe. These looks can be paired with great locations to really make it all pop. Much like with clothes, I suggest two different locations that have different vibes, so maybe one is a more urban/city look and the other is more natural. Maybe one is more rustic and then the other is more modern. For Abby's session, her looks varied in both style and color and her locations included a more urban-alley-way vibe as well as a more natural feel with blooming gold bushes and a dip in the river. It all came together so great!

Number 2: Include things that you love.

For Abby, is was all about the cute looks and showcasing her personality. For some seniors, it's all about showing off a sport, passion, hobby, their car, or even their pet. Whatever their thing is, including it in the session can really add a great pop of personality to the session.

Number 1: Be authentic.

I cannot stress this one enough: your senior session isn't about being someone else or putting on a show - its about capturing YOU and what you love. It's about showing who you are and what you are passionate about and doing that in a way that feels easy. Being your authentic self can be a little scary but the images are so fresh and fun when you are able to let you hair down and just be yourself. Rest assured that when you are your authentic self, the results are always amazing!

I think we can all agree that Abby's session is so beautiful! It's full of her sweetness, her sassiness, her joy, and love for life. I feel so honored to be able to capture these images for her and other amazing seniors here in Northern Colorado!
